CANAR gives lift to non-alc in Canada
5 January 2026
In an exciting development for non-alc in North America’s Canada’s AF retailers have banded together to form a new national alliance aimed at improving the non-alc experience for consumers across the country.
The Canadian Alliance of Non-Alcoholic Retailers (CANAR) currently has 18 members nationwide, though more are expected to join in the future. Most of the participating store owners specialise solely in alcohol-free beverages.
CANAR’s members take part in collaborative monthly meetings aimed at sharing ideas, insights and best practice to strengthen supplier relationships and ensure fair, transparent pricing.
By working together in this way, with an emphasis on transparency and education, the organisation hopes to improve the consumer experience and grow Canada’s non-alc sector to the benefit of all participating businesses.
In a statement, the organisation said that ‘Canada’s non-alcoholic beverage landscape has transformed from a niche category to a vibrant cultural movement. Consumers today expect exceptional, high-quality options—and responsible retailers share a responsibility to meet that demand with expertise, ethics, and consistency.’
