WAFA judge launches AF guide to Paris
17 October 2024
World Alcohol-Free Awards judge, Augustin Laborde has teamed up with journalist Raphaele Bortolin to create the first alc-free guide to Paris. Paris Sans-Alcool Friendly is hitting bookshelves on November 4th - perfect for anyone considering a moderating Christmas or planning Dry January, as well as sober drinkers.
The guide gathers together 100 of the best places in the French capital that have a high-quality alcohol-free offering. Within its covers there are 60 bars, 30 restaurants and ten DIY venues where visitors can learn how to make their own 0% drinks, such as kefir and kombucha.
'We've crossed the whole of Paris, tested litres of cocktails and investigated miriad drinks lists to curate this selection,' said Augustin, who hopes that the guide will inspire other cities to do the same.
'Almost every day clients [of our shop] ask us for the best terraces or tables where they can go to drink good alcohol-free drinks,' he continued. 'This guide will be their best ally.'
The Paon Qui Boit - Paris' first alcohol-free store, which opened two years ago - has also launched a label 'Le Paon Aime' [the peacock loves] which will be awarded to establishments who fulfil their ten golden rules when it comes to alcohol-free - high quality, low sugar, local production etc. They hope it will act as a visible badge of quality for curious consumers, and encourage other venues to follow their example.
