Chris Losh
Chris Losh has been a drinks writer, author and editor for over 25 years. He's written for most publications and websites in that time, and spent 13 years editing Imbibe. He's spent a growing part of his time over the last few years writing about non-alc drinks, which he describes as 'one of the most exciting things to happen in liquid in my time as a journalist' and in June 2023 he teamed up with Chrissie Parkinson to create the World Alcohol-Free Awards.
His favourite categories are spirits, aperitifs and beers, which he drinks regularly and has enjoyed introducing to family and friends. 'I'm a classic moderator,' he says. 'If I can take alcohol units out of my week and have an equal or better experience, then I'm going to do it.'
Chris is most looking forward to trying the alt-wine entries, which he describes as 'creatively diverse, technically impressive and absolutely fascinating in general' and also functionals, where the sheer levels of experimentation 'should throw up some real jaw-droppers'.
In his spare time Chris runs, swims, hikes and plays guitar, and has appeared in bands down the years called Teenage Rock (!), Parsley and the Herbs and The Jethro Q Walrus Titi. 'If you get that last reference, then you really are a child of the 70s,' he says.
