Clinton Cawood

Clinton has been writing about drinks since arriving in London in 2006 from his native South Africa. It was a bit of a career change for someone who almost became a computer scientist - something which he admits was a 'narrow escape'.

Clinton writes about all aspects of the industry - including all-things alcohol free - for a range of publications, with a particular interest in spirits, cocktails and bars. He's judged his fair share of cocktail competitions, and is a judge for the International Spirits Challenge and Gin Masters, among others.

He's written about alcohol-free drinks, as well as low/no cocktails, functional soft drinks and more, for many years. And while he's a particular fan of alcohol-free beer he's most looking forward to judging the sparkling wine and aperitif/digestif categories.

'There are some excellent examples out there,' he says, 'which means that zero- and low-ABV cocktails are better too.' He's also looking forward to analysing the alcohol-free RTDs - G&Ts in particular, which he says have 'come a long way in the past few years.'
