Quentin Fichot

Quentin has worked in hospitality since the age of 15, working his way up from barback to bar manager at a wide variety of establishments across France before ending up at Club Soda in London. The breadth of tasting experience, he says, has given him a solid tasting palate, and a great eye for quality.

At Club Soda, Quentin has worked with a wide variety of drinks but has increasingly found himself drawn to spirits that don't mimic traditional alcohol flavours, which he sees as versatile - and unique 'modifiers', whether used in AF cocktails or alcoholic drinks. 'Their potential to inspire creativity is really exciting,' he says. 'They're innovative and also practical. It's about discovering and exploring those distinctive flavours that make every drink feel a bit more special.'

That said - perhaps as a proud Frenchman - Quentin is excited to see what the wine flights have to offer at WAFA this year. With production techniques constantly improving, he's hoping to taste some really good - and innovative - creations, in a category he describes as 'thrilling'.

Equally thrilling is Quentin's work outside of the drinks space. He is training to compete in long-distance triathlons, so when he's not tasting or mixing alc-free drinks, he's running, cycling, swimming or - probably - sleeping like a baby!
